The "malenykij robot" or it is also known as forced labor meant hard physical work (mining, clearing rubble), mainly Hungarian men were chosen for this forced labor. People were gathered in Svalyava, where they were kept in inhuman conditions, and the survivers were deported to various regions of the Soviet Union. Most of them have never returned.

The memorial park was established in 1994 on the site, where a concentration camp for Hungarians and Germans was set up by order of Stalin in 1944. The park covers an area of 20.000 square m. A gravestone and monument are erected here. The names of the perished are written on marble slabs.
